Tell me a little about what you do

I’m the founder and lead copywriter over at KML Collective. We’re a boutique agency that writes for big-hearted business owners and empathetic entrepreneurs. We specialize in refreshing website copy, email and newsletters, and sales and landing pages. Never worry about what to write again.

What advice can you share with other creatives who are struggling?

You’re never going to feel ready. Start where you are and with what you’ve got! Action (big and small) is the only way to get out from behind the funk and start seeing progress.

Can you share a favorite marketing tip with us?

Social media is often a sticking point for many entrepreneurs and small business owners. Don’t feel like you have to be everywhere all the time. Start with the platform(s) you’re most comfortable using personally (even if it’s just one) and build out your brand there first. Once you’ve mastered the rhythm there then consider adding another one or two social platforms for your business. I also know many successful business owners that don’t use social at all. No matter what you decide, you’ve got this.

What are your five favorite things right now?

I’m in love with Purple Carrot meal prep food delivery. They make it *so* easy to prepare meals that make me feel like I can actually cook.
I’m reading Untamed by Glennon Doyle right now (it’s so great).
Dance is a form of therapy for me.
You’ll often find me starting my days with a solo dance party or blasting a woman-led pop band in order to refocus or break up the workday.
I long for social dancing (like salsa and blues nights out) and can’t wait until that’s a thing again.

What song do you listen to when you need to get motivated?

Who do you love to follow?

I’m an avid podcast listener. I start my days with NPR to catch up on the latest news and then when I take my afternoon walks I often listen to The Copywriter Club podcast (because I’m a nerd for work), SmartLess, or one of Brene Brown’s podcasts. On Instagram, I like to keep up with what’s happening in the #blacklivesmatter movement and I follow a variety of influencers in that industry, but most notably the @blklivesmatter account — as well as keeping up with what’s happening for the LGBTQIA community.

Where can we follow you?
