Liz

Liz has been one of my closest friends since Junior High School. What brought us together back then keeps us close now. I can count on her company any time. We laugh, we talk, we share and give support to each other. Whenever we are together, Liz makes everything fun. Everything is funny and we giggle like we’re 15 again. We both love music and theatre and there’s always plenty to talk about in our lives. Right now, Liz makes her home in Seattle and although she hasn’t quit her day job, one day, she may. She is a dynamic singer with a fun presence on stage and she will soon promote a compelation album along with other Seattle locals. If that news isn’t big enough, she is engaged to be married! It wasn’t difficult for her fiance to see in Liz what so many of us have seen. She is wonderful, energetic, interesting, positive and talented. Oh, by the way, he’s a pretty wonderful guy too. Recently, we got together to take some portraits to further promote her music and talent. Here are some of my favorites.

Alexis

Alexis is a stunning little girl who absolutely dazzled my camera. Her tiny giggle and bright smile were pure sunshine. How can you not fall in love with this little face? We started with some casual portraits, mixed in some confetti and ended with some Mickey ears. Too fun!

Jackie

Aspiring model Jackie rocked it in front of my camera last weekend and what a great time we had. Our goal was to get some basic headshots but we ended up going a little farther and playing with some lighting and getting a little more creative. At the end, we aimed to show off her amazing hair and think we did a pretty stellar job. :) Thanks for hanging out with me, Jackie! I had a blast!

Taylor

“I love guys.” I tell Taylor. Even as I explain what it is I love about men and their mannerisms, he sits there with one foot crossed over the opposite knee (guy-thing-I-love-#1) wearing his watch (guy-thing-I-love-#2) and drinking a coffee (guy-thing-I-love-#3).

Mark Wallace | Workshop

I left The Phoenix Convention center a little dizzy a few weeks ago. While part of it may have been the comic-con crowd and their interesting costumes, the main reason was that I had just had my brain packed with tons of incredibly useful photo-knowledge. I don’t think I could have gone to a better workshop than Mark Wallace’s studio lighting workshop. My mind was sufficiently blown. I’ve had so many of the thing I learned explained to me before and none of them made sense until this workshop. If you have the chance to go to one, go, go, go.

Andy!

Enter immaculately groomed man. He is tall, dark and handsome with excessively straight white teeth and a smile that kills. He’s well dressed, stands up straight, and makes eye contact. Hes well mannered, carries conversation, and um….again….that smile. Enter Andy. The very model of what a man should be.

Work What You’ve Got

I am a big believer in rocking what you’ve got in the way of camera equipment. Often times we think “If I just had this lens, that camera or this set of actions, I’d be able to take better photos.” This way of thinking is likely holding you back from developing your skills as a photographer. You don’t want that awkward statement from someone who says “Wow, that’s a good photo! You must have a nice camera!”to actually be true. Work on shooting with what you have and getting good with what you have now and upgrade once you’ve outgrown your equipment. It will make YOU a better photographer.

Molly

Molly has no problem working it like Tyra. Her face is truly unique and her style is classy and fun at the same time. I think it’s safe to say that Molly was a blast to photograph.

Mandi and Andy

Mandi and Andy are such great friends that I decided it would be totally 100% ok to take a couple-y picture of the two of them. And they let me have my fun. As soon as we sat down to shoot, Katy Perry’s teenage dream started playing which was wildly appropriate.

Jamie and Jason

If there was ever a time that I organized a total spring or Valentines shoot, it would look just like this. Jamie looked so adorable in her dress and Jason was amorous as always.
