Nicole and McKenna | Old Town Gilbert

Nicole and McKenna | Old Town Gilbert

They say the terrible twos are nothing compared to the terrible threes. And then they say the fantastic fours make up for all of it. Little McKenna is truly a doll and throwing the sweetest smiles all over the place. She will be four in two weeks and is a complete delight. I love that Nicole is so committed to documenting her daughters childhood. You know when McKenna is all grown up, Nicole will have a million mother daughter photos from McKennas baby days.

This was a really special shoot because it’s the second one in the last year. To keep our shoots from getting stale or looking the same, I thought about the overall theme a lot. I had this little wooden heart, picked up some burlap and plaid, and described the whole thing to Nicole who hopped on board and brought this LOVELY eyelet lace dress that went perfectly. Shoots are always better when everyone has a similar vision and communicates well before the shoot.

We met at Old Town Gilbert which was one of my first places to shoot. I love this little area with the sun filtering through the trees.

We made our way over to the train tracks and ended there at sunset. What a fun and sweet shoot! I absolutely love coming up with ideas to make a session unique and special.
